I will be growing celery every year from here on in. Not only was it easy to start from seed and grow, it is delectable. Grocery store celery is not even comparable. You can start taking outside ribs at anytime, like you would with lettuce, or harvest the whole head at once. Apparently it stores especially well if placed cut side down in a bucket of sand and then stored in a cold room or space. Celery enjoys quite moist soil and has been thriving in the extra rain we have had this summer. 

Sprouts for the chickens. One way to supplement their diet. Extremely easy and cost effective to grow. They love them!

The garlic was finally ready to be harvested today. A handful of bulbs had matured earlier, the majority were fully developed today. I had read that abundant rainfall would prolong the time until maturity. That may have been the case considering the conditions. A little muddy due to the rain I left mine on the deck today prior to hanging in the darkness of the shop loft to fully dry.

Save your largest, most uniform and impressive bulbs to plant again in the fall.

Here's Hollyhocks!

Peas and Mint. The one benefit of a cooler, wetter summer is that the peas are still hanging on. During a hot dry summer they would have expired a few weeks ago. It is time to plant more for a fall crop.

Plenty of Produce.

I love this time of year, when using veggies from the garden starts becoming more of a necessity than simply a pleasure. It has not been the best gardening season with things being on the wetter side, however

everything is holding on quite well. These veggies went amazingly well with our grass fed beef brisket from Linden Leas beefmobile in New Glasgow, which has proven to be some of the best beef I have ever tasted.
