Garlic Scape Season.

Garlic scape season is here . A very short lived season, with each bulb of garlic giving off only one of these extremely tasty seed heads. Another fantastic reason to grow your own fall garlic, a crop my garden will never be without. If you grow your own garlic from bulbs planted in the fall, you want to cut off these seed heads even if you don't eat them, so the plants energy can go into forming a bulb instead of producing seeds. Simply trim the tough ends, although some people do not, and prepare as desired. We're purists who usually only sauté in butter, however scapes can be prepared in numerous ways from oven roasted to pestos.
