One of my baking pumpkins, Baby Pam was the variety. I'll either bake with this or make soup.

  1. Phallen - how do you make the pumpkin flesh edible? I peeled and boiled one at work and it was an exercise in nastiness - it got all pale and not good flavorey. I heard you can split them and roast them and then remove the seeds and peel - what do you do?

  2. I usually roast them but I have boiled them before. When I've boiled them, I've done it in very little water so the flavour doesn't get too diluted. When I roast a pumpkin, I cut it in half and scoop out the seeds, and put it face down on a baking sheet. Roast it until it's tender and then either scoop out the flesh or pull the peel away. The peel comes off really easy after the pumpkin is roasted. I usually roast all my squashes when I cook them, it is tastier and easier then boiling.
