Company is always welcome while I am gardening. It is usually my boyfriend hanging out amongst the tomatoes and beets with me although you never know who or what may show up.
Toads are especially welcome in the organic garden. Toads will eat garden pests that may eat your crops. You can even purchase toad 'holes' to place in your garden, little damp, cool and shaded houses that toads apparently like to hang out in during the day.
Bigger than the beets.
Peeking.
Chilling in a weed ridden corner.
Encouraging toads is another reason to avoid pesticides and herbicides that may be harmful to their delicate, porous bodies. With the amount of pests they are capable of eating the trade off could be well worth it.
